The Diamondbacks could be in line to become the most unlikely World Series winner in history, according to preseason championship odds.
Arizona was a consensus +12500 to win the World Series during spring training, which would make them the longest winners in history. Now, they're one step closer after beating the Phillies in hostile territory to make their first World Series since 2001.
Already, the Diamondbacks would be the third-longest team to ever win a pennant, behind the 1991 Atlanta Braves and 2008 Tampa Bay Rays, who both lost in the World Series.
For what it's worth, the Rangers — who clinched with a Game 7 victory over the Astros last night — would become the fourth-longest team to ever win a World Series. They're already tied for the seventh-most unlikely team to win a pennant in MLB history.

The odds don't favor Arizona to pull it off tonight, though — albeit, barely.
The Diamondbacks are a market-best +151 to win tonight on the road at WynnBet.
Arizona had been just +430 to make the playoffs and +5000 to win the NL pennant. If you had placed a $100 bet on the Diamondbacks to win the NL preseason, you could stand to win $5,000 — or, you could hedge and win about $1,825 by putting $3,175 at BetMGM on the Phillies to win tonight's Game 7 tilt.
As it stands, the Diamondbacks would have the lowest win total in history for a World Series winner, too, at just 75.5 games.
