The Cleveland Guardians avoided a disaster on Tuesday after blowing an early 6-0 lead as they held off the Detroit Tigers, 9-8, in 10 innings.

The two AL Central-division rivals play the third contest of their four-game set at Comerica Park tonight with a pair of talented young right-handers on the mound: Tanner Bibee for the Guardians and Reese Olson for the Tigers.

Guardians vs Tigers odds for Wednesday have the Guardians as -150 moneyline favorites, with an over/under of 7.5.

Cleveland Guardians

The Guardians dropped the series opener on Monday, 1-0, before the offense exploded against Kenta Maeda early for six runs in three innings last night.

However, Detroit rallied against Cleveland's Ben Lively for four runs in the sixth to even the game at 7-7. The Guardians picked up an RBI single and sacrifice fly in the 10th for the go-ahead runs before the Tigers plated a run in the bottom of the inning but ultimately fell short.

Four of five matchups between the Guardians and Tigers have been decided by one run apiece this season as Tanner Bibee looks to rebound from one rough inning in his last matchup against Detroit in early May.

Bibee tossed three scoreless innings before things fell apart in the fourth, as the Cleveland right-hander allowed four runs and Detroit grabbed a 4-2 lead. Luckily for Bibee, Cleveland tied the game late with a pair of runs before walking it off in the 10th.

Bibee has put together better numbers on the road than at home this season. Bibee has posted a 4-1 record with a 2.70 ERA in nine away starts, compared to a 3-2 mark at Progressive Field behind a hefty 4.69 ERA.

Cleveland has compiled an impressive 8-1 mark in Bibee's nine road outings, with the lone loss coming at Cincinnati last month despite him striking out 11 batters.

The Guardians have not responded well after scoring a bunch of runs, as Cleveland is 0-4 in its last four tries after scoring six runs or more. Cleveland was limited to exactly two runs in each of those losses, including the last two to the Giants and White Sox as heavy favorites.

Detroit Tigers

The Tigers received a tremendous pitching performance in the series opener from Keider Montero, but Maeda continued his horrible season as he couldn't escape the third.

Detroit turns to another right-hander tonight as Reese Olson tries to capitalize off a strong outing at Cincinnati his last time out. Olson picked up only his third victory of the season but delivered 5 2/3 innings with eight strikeouts in a 5-4 win, which ended the Reds' three-game winning streak.

Olson has allowed two earned runs or less in four consecutive starts, although Detroit is 2-2 in this span, with both losses coming by one run.

Despite the 3-8 record, the right-hander has put together a 3.22 ERA. Olson has bounced back from a rough three-game stretch to start June. Olson allowed 18 runs against the Red Sox, Brewers, and Nationals, including a pair of home losses to Milwaukee and Washington.

Olson started opposite Bibee in that May 8 matchup at Progressive Field as the Tigers' right-hander yielded two early runs before Detroit struck back with four runs in the fourth. Unfortunately for Olson, he picked up a no-decision as the Tigers' bullpen squandered a late lead in a 5-4 loss.

Since a four-game slide towards the end of June, Detroit has won six of its past nine games, but the Tigers haven't picked up consecutive home wins since late May.

Guardians vs. Tigers

Betting Pick & Prediction

Following Tuesday's explosion of runs early, I expect a lower-scoring start tonight, especially with Bibee and Olson on the mound.

Even with the first five innings total sitting at 3.5 at several books, taking the under at plus money is a strong look.

Olson has allowed one run or less in the first five innings in six of eight starts at Comerica Park this season.

Pick: F5 Under 3.5 (+110, DraftKings)
