When the Guardians lost Shane Bieber for the season and Triston McKenzie struggled, Tanner Bibee had to ascend to the top spot in their rotation. The 25-year responded by going 12-8 with a 3.47 ERA with 187 strikeouts in 173 2/3 and producing a 2.7 WAR. He also staked the Guardians to a 1-0 lead in the series with 4 2/3 scoreless innings.

Today, Bibee will be tasked with extending the Guardians' season and he may get at least five full innings with the Guardians having played yesterday and using seven pitchers. However, Bibee was able to punch out six in Game 1. The Tigers are averaging 11 strikeouts per game in the playoffs. In addition to Bibee, teammate Matt Boyd had five strikeouts in Game 2 in 4 2/3 innings, while Hunter Brown struck out nine in 5 2/3 innings in Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series.

Bibee has at least one strikeout against every Tiger he will face today. He has five strikeouts in nine of his last 10 starts, which should continue today. I also like him up to eight strikeouts at +600 on FanDuel.

It has been a cold start to the postseason for Riley Greene, as he is just 3-for-19 (.158) since the start of the playoffs. However, he got the Tigers on the board yesterday with a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the first. He may pick up where he left off against Bibee.

Greene is 4-for-13 (.308) with a double and an RBI against Bibee. Despite Bibee being a top starter, those numbers are not too surprising because Greene is much better against right-handed pitchers. He slashed .280/.377/.496 with 18 doubles, four triples, 18 home runs, and 52 RBI against right-handed pitchers compared to .213/.265/.433 with nine doubles and six home runs against left-handers.

Greene will likely see a left-handed pitcher at some point today, but if Bibee goes as long as expected, he should get three at-bats against him. It is not often that you will get plus-money for hits + runs + RBIs on a hitter as good as Greene, so I'll take the value here.
