FanDuel submitted a petition to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement asking for the $5 million cap on a single bet to be lifted.
FanDuel spokesman Kevin Hennessy confirmed today that the sportsbook had indeed filed the paperwork. According to the DGE's website, the filing took place on Sept. 9. PlayNJ.com was first to report the filing, which mentions the Houston Astros as the subject of the bet and the Meadowlands as the sportsbook.
No additional information is known at this time and Hennessy said he could not provide further information.
The Astros, who won it all in 2017, are the favorite to win the World Series at FanDuel. Their odds are currently +220, meaning a $5 million bet would net $11 million if Houston wins its second title in three years..
