The Seattle Mariners travel to Oakland to begin a series with the Athletics Tuesday.

This is a spot for the Mariners to get right. Seattle, my pick to win the American League West, enters play Tuesday in fourth place at 12-16 on the season. It's still early so there's plenty of time for Seattle to turnaround and make another playoff appearance building on the strong season they had last year.

I can't say the same about Oakland. The Athletics are 6-23, 11.5 games back in the division race already. It's still early, of course, but that team is likely hopeless.

Let's see if we can take advantage of them in this Same-Game Parlay.

The Parlay (+461):

  • Mason Miller Over 5.5 Strikeouts
  • Julio Rodriguez 2+ Total Bases
  • Mariners Moneyline

Same-Game Parlay – Mariners vs. Athletics

Mason Miller Over 5.5 Strikeouts

Mason Miller is a rookie pitcher and will be making his third major league start here.

Miller struck out six batters in his last start against the Angels and didn't even complete the fifth inning. He hasn't completed five innings in either of his major league starts.

Miller struggles with command and tends to be wild inside the strike zone. Still, he throws very hard, topping out at 102 mph with his fastball. His secondary pitches are also pretty firm.

Seattle's lineup has a combined 25% strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching this year and six hitters in their projected lineup have at least a 24% strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching this year. I like this over to kick off the Same-Game Parlay.

Julio Rodriguez 2+ Total Bases

Julio Rodriguez is the Mariners' best hitter and bats leadoff, which is quite a combination when betting on his total bases. The leadoff spot could be important late in this game if we need him to get another at-bat to help cover this bet.

It shouldn't come to that, though. Rodriguez has a .195 ISO against right-handed pitching this year. Last year, he had a .230 ISO against right-handed pitching. Miller allowed a .167 ISO to right-handed hitters in his two starts this year.

Rodriguez just needs a double or two singles to cover this leg of the Same-Game Parlay.

Mariners Moneyline

Of course we're going with the Mariners moneyline to close this one out. Oakland has just six victories on the season so far and Seattle is a team with eyes on the playoffs. There's a lot more incentive on the Mariners side in a game like this.

Seattle is on the road, but that shouldn't matter as they're already a west coast team and Oakland fans don't exactly pack the ballpark these days.

If this game is somehow close late, you have to like Seattle. The Mariners bullpen is the sixth-best in ERA in all of baseball (3.00) while Oakland has the second-worst bullpen ERA at 6.83.

We're going with the Mariners moneyline and they should cash us out with ease.
