The New York Mets continue to add chapters to their improbable underdog story.

The Mets now have the second-shortest odds to win the World Series behind the New York Yankees. That's according to odds from DraftKings, which have the Mets at +330 after they clinched a spot in the NLCS for the first time since 2015.

The Mets are now the favorites to win the National League Pennant ahead of the Dodgers and Padres who would each have home-field advantage in a potential championship series.

These might not be the Miracle Mets, but there is absolutely some magic around this team. On June 11, the Mets were 28-37 and had 80-1 odds to win the NL Pennant, according to BetMGM. The next day, Grimace threw out the first pitch and the Mets have been the best bet in baseball since.

Four months later, the Mets are four wins away from a spot in the World Series after being underdogs entering their Wild Card Series against the Milwaukee Brewers (+108) and Phillies (+160).

It's not just that the Mets have been winning as underdogs, they've been doing it in dramatic fashion nearly every night, especially when they need it most.

Ten days ago, they needed to pick up at least one win in a road doubleheader on the final day of the regular season against the Atlanta Braves just to make the playoffs as a wild card. In seven playoff games, they've scored 13 runs in the eighth inning or later. Four of their five playoff wins have come with them trailing at some point in the game.

Mets Deliver With a Chance to Advance

Wild Card Game 3 vs Brewers+105Pete Alonso (Top 9)Won 4-2
NLDS Game 4 vs Phillies-120Francisco Lindor (Bottom 6)Won 6-2

The three games the Mets have played to advance their season have all featured a go-ahead HR to take the lead, going back to the final day of the regular season. Francisco Lindor has two of them: A two-run homer to clinch a spot in the playoffs, and a grand slam to clinch the series against the Phillies.
