The Subway Series is off to a terrific start.

The New York Mets held off the New York Yankees from a late comeback effort to preserve a 9-7 victory last night. The Yankees looked dead in the water early on, but Aaron Judge silenced Citi Field with a grand slam late to make it a two-run deficit.

However, it was too little, too late for the Bronx Bombers. Now, they turn to Luis Gil tonight to leave Queens with a split. Sean Manaea gets the ball for the red-hot Mets, who at one point last month were 11 games below .500.

For tonight's contest, I cooked up a reasonable three-leg same-game parlay that pays nearly 6-1 over at FanDuel.

Here's my Mets vs Yankees Same-Game Parlay for Wednesday, June 26.

Remember to bet responsibly — this is a long shot for a reason.

Mets vs Yankees Same-Game Parlay

  • Luis Gil Over 5.5 Ks (-160)
  • Aaron Judge Over 1.5 Total Bases (-130)
  • J.D. Davis Over 1.5 Total Bases (+145)

Parlay Odds: +578 (FanDuel)

Luis Gil

Over 5.5 Ks (-160)

Gil could not escape the second inning last week against the Orioles, giving up seven runs, eight hits and two walks in the start. It was by far the worst outing of Gil's career, and it raised his 2024 ERA to 2.77.

I expect a strong bounce-back from Gil tonight despite the fact he's taking on a red-hot Mets offense. The Mets don't strike out often, but Gil's elite whiff and chase rates can combat that.

As a team, the Mets have struck out 23% of the time against right-handed pitching this season, and their batting average takes a dip as well.

It's a steep price, but as long as Gil can keep his pitch count down, I don't see a reason why he can't eclipse six strikeouts.

Aaron Judge

Over 1.5 Total Bases (-130)

Aaron Judge is not only the front-runner for the AL MVP, but he's on pace for another 60-home run season. Judge's grand slam last night marked his 29th homer of the year, and he's now up to 75 RBIs.

Tonight, he draws another fantastic matchup against a southpaw in Manaea. Judge has tormented Manaea in the past, going 5-for-12 with two home runs against him lifetime.

In previous seasons, I would be concerned about taking a prop like this during such an impressive hot streak, as there are always concerns about being pitched around. However, with Juan Soto added to the mix, there's a lower chance the Mets do that.

The price of -130 is a joke, and I'd be surprised if Judge didn't rack up at least one extra-base hit tonight.

J.D. Davis

Over 1.5 Total Bases (+145)

Davis went 0-for-3 last night against his former team, but I expect him right back in action tonight. The Yankees plan on using Davis against left-handed pitching for the time being until they sort out their everyday first baseman situation.

Davis is notoriously known for destroying left-handed pitching in his career, and he enters the matchup against Manaea with some history. He's 2-6 with a homer against Manaea, so there's even more reason to like the matchup.

The Yankees' bench is thin right now due to some injuries, so there's a lower chance that Davis gets pulled later in the game. Even hitting toward the bottom of the order, Davis should get at least three at-bats with potential for a fourth if the Yankees offense is cooking.

I'm more than happy to take a shot with Davis in this spot, and it'd be very typical of the Mets if he went off against his former squad. Expect Davis to bounce back with at least one extra-base hit tonight in a favorable matchup.
