Ben Lively has been a nice fill-in starter for the Cleveland Guardians. However, he has a below average Hard-Hit Rate and Average Exit Velocity. Sure, he can limit walks and barrels, but also rarely strikes anyone out.

Justin Verlander will throw for the Houston Astros. His xERA hovers around 4.00 and his strikeout rate is below 19%. He also has a 7.3% walk rate. His Hard-Hit Rate is above average and his ground-ball rate is putrid, ranking in the first percentile.

In September, Verlander has posted a 10.90 ERA with nine strikeouts and eight walks across four starts.

he Guardians aren't crushing the ball, but they don't strikeout much and are right around league average in wRC+ (98) against righties over the past month. They'll be fine against Verlander.

The Astros will be short Yordan Álvarez and Chas McCormick for the final series, but still have a 105 wRC+ and a low strikeout rate.

Both teams own solid bullpen xFIPs over the past month, but damage will be done against the starters. As a result, each team will dig into its bullpen much sooner than anticipated.

Bet the over in this game and take it up to 9. Neither starter should pitch deep.

Pick: Over 8.5
