I'm surprised he's being offered this high. This market is all about upside, and he provides plenty of it in this matchup with the Phillies.
Skubal's top strikeout pitch is the changeup, and the Phillies have the highest team putaway rank on changeups of any MLB lineup.
I'm projecting Skubal closer to +760 in this market, so this is worth a stab.
Additionally, I'm taking Kyle Gibson as a longer-shot wager at +7500. He's worth a flier at this price.
Gibson's top strikeout pitch is his nasty sweeper, forcing a whopping 43.6% Whiff rate. Meanwhile, the Braves have the highest team Whiff rate against sweepers, so there's plenty of upside for the Cardinals veteran righty in this matchup.
I'm projecting Gibson closer to +3600 in this market, providing us plenty of value.
