With the help of Action's PRO Prop Projections, I'm building a round robin of home run picks for the MLB slate on Tuesday, April 8.
While I'm not blindly betting the players with the biggest edges, I'm using what our model says to guide me while also making my own decisions.
How these round robins work is I'm betting five players in combinations of two, for 10 bets total. Betting 0.1 unit on each combination makes my risk one unit in total. Given the lengthy odds for most home run props, even one combination of two hitting will give us profit on our investment.
So far this season, I've hit a 101/1 combination of Nolan Arenado and Cedric Mullins on Opening Day, and on Sunday I hit Jose Altuve and Jake Burger at +5675.
Home run picks have been difficult this week as cold weather throughout a significant portion of the country has limited the amount of games where we can expect dingers. Thus, today I'm sticking to games that are either indoors or in warmer climates — with one exception.
For the most part, if I'm picking five different players I'm looking at five different games, but on occasion you'll see me pick two players from the same game or even the same team.
These bets are long-shots for a reason, so be sure to bet responsible, but for what it's worth, in addition to the one unit on the 10 round robin combinations, I'll be throwing $1 on the lotto ticket of all five hitting, which pays out at a hilarious +816340.
