MLB Home Run Picks for April 23
Gunnar Henderson Home Run (+400)
@ Nationals (SP: RHP Trevor Williams)
Gunnar Henderson is off to a slow start to the season — slashing .213/.250/.410 entering Wednesday — but we know the power is there after his 37-HR season in 2024.
The underlying numbers show he's in for positive regression as he has a career-high hard-hit rate.
The matchup isn't bad against Nationals starter Trevor Williams, who is a much worse pitcher than he showed last season, and he grades out as an above-average matchup for left-handed power hitters.
I have the true odds here around +350, making this a great bet.
Mike Trout Home Run (+400)
vs. Pirates (SP: LHP Andrew Heaney)
Mike Trout has been all-or-nothing at the plate this season as eight of his hits have gone for home runs.
That's obviously not a bad thing for this bet — especially in this spot.
He gets a matchup against Pirates starter (and former teammate) Andrew Heaney, who has been a gas can for righty power his entire career, and he is one of the best matchups on the board today.
The weather should be only slightly below average for hitting at Angel Stadium, but these odds are far too high.

Adolis Garcia Home Run (+350)
@ Athletics (SP: LHP JP Sears)
I'm going heavy on right-handed Rangers bats tonight as they're in a great spot.
Athletics LHP JP Sears is a great matchup for righty power; he has given up above-average power numbers despite playing in one of the best pitchers ballparks in the league for most of his career.
But now he's pitching in Sutter Health Park, which is one of the best in the league for offense. The weather should be good, with temperatures near 70 degrees and winds blowing out at 8 mph.

Wyatt Langford Home Run (+425)
@ Athletics (SP: LHP JP Sears)
I'm going right back to the well on Wyatt Langford, who's in a great spot once again tonight.
Langford has the platoon split vs. Sears, who has given up 1.47 HR/9 in his career despite playing in one of the best ballparks in the league at suppressing HRs for most of his career.
I have the true odds for Langford nearly 100 points lower, making this a great bet.
Brent Rooker Home Run (+360)
vs Rangers (SP: RHP Kumar Rocker)
I've been saying all season that we may see Brent Rooker hit 50 HRs this season, and he's about on pace for that at the moment despite playing in the coldest month of the season.
He gets a decent spot tonight against Rangers starter Kumar Rocker, who grades out as an average matchup for righty power, and these odds are great.
Rooker just isn't priced like he should be considering his home park.
