Matchup | Josiah Gray vs. Zack Wheeler |
First Pitch | 7:05 p.m. ET |
Today, we set our sights on Nationals Park to find vaue in an NRFI involving two National League East rivals in the Philadelphia Phillies and the Washington Nationals.
The starting pitcher for the Nationals today is Josiah Gray, who has been a remarkably valuable asset when it comes to NRFI betting this season. With a 9–2 record, Gray has performed a U-turn from his previous 17-11 NRFI season, showcasing impressive growth.
When facing batters the first time through the order, Gray has allowed a mere 18 hits in 89 at-bats, translating to a lean .202 average against. Much of Gray's NRFI improvement comes from his superb performance against leadoff hitters. This season, he's ceded only five hits in 21 at-bats.
Despite being a frequent player in the division rivalry, Gray has managed to keep a steady balance against the Phillies' lineup with Nick Castellanos at 2-of-8, Bryson Stott at 0-of-7, Brandon Marsh at 1-of-4 and Bryce Harper at 2-of-5.
Notably, key Phillies hitters such as Harper and Trea Turner are experiencing a bear market, hitting .118 and .167, respectively, in the past week.
Turning our attention to the other side of this NRFI, we have Phillies standout Zack Wheeler.
With a similar 9–2 record to the NRFI this season, Wheeler has accumulated an impressive 32–4 NRFI record since the 2022 season.
Wheeler has shown a strong ability to limit risk the first time through the order, allowing only a .194 average. He has also posted solid returns against Nationals hitters in Luis Garcia (2-of-20), Joey Meneses (0-of-2), Corey Dickerson (3-of-16), Keibert Ruiz (0-of-6) and Lane Thomas (1-of-7).
Priced at an enticing -118 at FanDuel, this NRFI matchup represents a compelling investment opportunity.
As always, six outs to glory…
