On Wednesday, we travel to St. Louis to find value between two National League division rivals: the Milwaukee Brewers and the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Brewers will send out their ace Corbin Burnes, who enters the matchup 24-3 to the NRFI with a 10-2 road NRFI split. When facing batters the first time through the order Burnes has excelled: In 230 at-bats, he has issued 40 hits, which is good for a .174 average.
Here is how Burnes has done in the past and some of these Cardinals hitters:
- Nolan Arenado: 3-for-17
- Brendan Donovan: 1-for-9
- Nolan Gorman: 1-for-8
- Lars Nootbaar: 0-for-7
- Tyler O’Neill: 1-for-11
It should be noted that Paul Goldschmidt the Cardinals' best hitter is in the midst of a slump, in his last 22 at-bats he has only managed three hits, which is good for a .158 average.
The Cardinals send out their veteran Adam Wainwright. Coming into today Wainwright is 19-8 to the NRFI with a 12-3 home NRFI split. Getting the first out in an NRFI is by far the most crucial out. Among the 85 leadoff hitters Wainwright has faced in 2022, he’s allowed just 16 hits for a .188 average.
Here is how some of these Brewers hitters have done in the past against Wainwright:
- Willy Adames: 1-for-15
- Jace Peterson: 5-for-22
- Rowdy Tellez: 4-for-15
- Kolten Wong: 5-for-19
There are two Brewers' hitters who are slumping in our favor. First, we have Hunter Renfroe, in his last 26 at-bats, he has five hits good for a .192 average, more importantly, the Brewers clean-up hitter Rowdy Tellez is also slumping in the last 23 at bats he is hitting just .174.
Bet on these two veteran NRFI pitchers to have a scoreless first-inning today in St. Louis.
As always, six outs to glory!
