Mets vs. Phillies — No Runs First Inning (-120)
Matchup | Mets (Walker) vs. Phillies (Nola) |
First Pitch | 6:45 p.m. ET |
Best Line | FanDuel |
On Thursday, we look to take a NRFI between two National League East rivals. Both pitchers come into the game undefeated towards the NRFI in 2022.
Taijuan Walker is a proficient NRFI pitcher with a 25-6 NRFI record since 2021, and 2-0 NRFI record in 2022. Before doing a short stint on the IL Walker was mowing down hitters, allowing only two hits in 21 total batters faced as a starter. His first-inning split is perfect thus far as well, allowing zero hits and three strikeouts to six batters faced.
Walker has had success against the Phillies, he is 6-2 to the NRFI against them since 2020.
Walker also has faired very well in the batter-pitcher matchups:
- Jean Segura: 3-for-12
- Rhys Hoskins: 1-for-10
- Bryce Harper: 3-for-17
- Didi Gregorius: 4-for-19
The Phillies' bats overall have been underperforming in 2022, and specifically in the last seven days, they have multiple starters hitting under .200:
- Rhys Hoskins: 3-for-24
- JT Realmuto: 2-for-15
- Jean Segura: 3-for-20
- Nick Castellanos: 3-for-17
On the other side is Phillies ace Aaron Nola. He hasn't allowed a first inning run in any of his starts this year. making him 5-0 to the NRFI out the gate. His first-inning split is remarkable. only allowing three hits and two walks in 17 batters faced.
Nola has only allowed a first-inning run in two out of 18 starts dating back to the 2021 All-Star break. Nola also holds one of the best home NRFI splits since 2019, coming in at 34-8.
Nola has had NRFI success against the Mets, he is 11-2 since 2019.
Nola's most notable batter-pitcher matchups are:
- J.D Davis: 2-for-12
- James McCann: 1-for-11
- Francisco Lindor: 4-for-15
- Starling Marte: 5-for-15
In the last 21 days, the Mets rank 26th in the MLB in first inning batting average on the road, hitting just .100 as a team in 21 plate appearances. The Mets have only scored in the first inning six out of 27 time as an underdog since the 2021 All-Star break.
Look to see Walker pick up right where he left off before the IL and Nola add to his 34-8 home NRFI split. Take the NRFI between the Mets and the Phillies.
As always, six outs to glory…
