Rays vs. Yankees — No Runs First Inning (-144)
Matchup | Rays (McClanahan) vs. Yankees (Cortes) |
First Pitch | 7:05 p.m. ET |
Best Line | FanDuel |
On Wednesday, we travel to Yankee Stadium to take the NRFI between two American League East rivals — the Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees.
Shane McClanahan is a younger version of NRFI Hall of Famer Shane Bieber. McClanahan is 31-7 to the NRFI since 2020. This is including his 10-2 start to 2022.
We will be getting McClanahan’s road NRFI split, which is 3-0 this year, but the best NRFI split comes in low total games. When the total is less than or equal to 7.5 he is 17-4 since 2020.
If you take the total down half-point to 7 he is a perfect 9-0 to the NRFI. In 44 first-inning batters, McClanahan has only allowed seven hits for a .167 average against while only issuing one walk.
Here is how these Yankees hitters have fared in the past matchups:
- Josh Donaldson: 0-for-3
- Anthony Rizzo: 0-for-5
- Aaron Judge: 2-for-10
- DJ LeMahieu: 3-for-9
McClanahan is holding the Yankees' projected top of the order to a lousy 5-for-27.
On the other side, the Yankees will counter with Nestor Cortes. Nasty Nestor — with his funky release points — has achieved a more-than-respectable NRFI record of 10-1. This now makes him 21-4 since 2021. His home split is just as impressive at 10-2 since 2021. Like McClanahan, Cortes is also a perfect 5-0 in his career when the total is less than or equal to 7.
Here is how he has fared against the Rays in the past:
- Manuel Margot: 2-for-8
- Yandy Diaz: 2-for-12
- Randy Arozarena: 0-for-6
- Ji-Man Choi: 1-for-5
It should also be noted Diaz is struggling to hit the ball as of late, going 3-for-23 in his last seven days. He is projected to bat 3rd today.
Look for these two division rivals to play each other close, and these 10 win NRFI pitchers to reach 11 NRFI wins together. Take the NRFI between the Rays and Yankees.
As always, six outs to glory…
