Darvish &
Alcantara
Matchup | Padres vs. Pirates · Marlins vs. Red Sox |
First Pitch | 7:05 p.m. ET · 7:10 p.m. ET |
Today, we will create a custom No Runs First Inning (NRFI) bet by analyzing the performances of two pitchers. This personalized bet can be crafted through sportsbooks such as DraftKings and Barstool. This NRFI bet is different from a traditional NRFI, as it combines two separate half innings from the first innings of two different games. This approach allows you to have a better edge and tailor the bet to your preferences.
Our first selection for today's custom NRFI is Yu Darvish, the ace of the San Diego Padres. Darvish has been highly proficient this season, holding an impressive 11-3 record in NRFIs. His overall NRFI performance since 2022 also stands at an outstanding 33-11. When facing batters for the first time through the order, Darvish has been nothing short of excellent, allowing just 18 hits in 113 at-bats, resulting in a .159 batting average against the Pittsburgh Pirates hitters.
In previous matchups, Darvish has found success against Pirates hitters such as Carlos Santana (3-22), Connor Joe (1-8), Andrew McCutchen (3-11) and Ke'Bryan Hayes (1-3). Additionally, in the past two weeks, the Pirates rank as the second-worst team in first-inning batting average in baseball, managing only an abysmal .174 average with eight hits in 51 plate appearances.
Our second selection for today's custom NRFI is Sandy Alcantara, the talented pitcher from the Miami Marlins and former Cy Young winner. Despite a relatively lackluster season so far, Alcantara has still found success toward the NRFI, holding an impressive 13-2 NRFI record this season. His overall NRFI performance since 2022 stands at a remarkable 39-8.
Notably, Alcantara has impressive numbers against Red Sox hitters, including Adam Duvall (0-16), Rafael Devers (0-3) and Justin Turner (2-9). It's worth mentioning that in the last seven days, the Boston Red Sox have struggled in the first inning, managing just a .143 average and achieving only three hits in 22 plate appearances. Furthermore, the projected leadoff hitter today, Jarren Duran, has a batting average of just .188 in the past week, with three hits in his last 16 at-bats.
This custom NRFI wager is priced at (-152) on DraftKings, but Barstool provides a greater edge to us at (-132).
As always, six outs to glory…
