Today we will create a custom No Runs First Inning (NRFI) bet by analyzing the performances of two pitchers.

This personalized bet can be crafted through sportsbooks such as DraftKings and Barstool Sportsbook. This NRFI bet is different from a traditional NRFI, as it combines two separate half-innings from the first innings of two different games. This approach allows you to tailor the bet to your preferences.

Today, our first NRIF selection features Tampa Bay Rays' ace and Cy Young candidate, Shane McClanahan. This season, McClanahan has been exceptional with an impressive 11-2 record in the NRFI, including a flawless 6-0 record in home NRFI games. Overall, he boasts a remarkable 31-9 NRFI record since 2022.

When facing batters for the first time through the order, McClanahan has been outstanding, allowing only 16 hits in 100 at-bats, resulting in an impressive .160 average against Rangers hitters.

In previous matchups, McClanahan has found success against Rangers batter such as Marcus Semien (0-9), Robbie Grossman (1-4) and Mitch Gardner (1-2). It's worth noting that over the last 14 days, the Texas Rangers have struggled in the first inning, ranking among the bottom half of teams in baseball with a mere .215 average.

The Reds' Hunter Greene completes our second half of our custom NRFI bet for Sunday. Greene has had a magnificent season, posting an impressive 11-1 record in the NRIF, with a noteworthy 6-1 split in road NRFI games. His overall NRFI record stands at an impressive 16-4.

Similar to McClanahan, Greene has performed admirably when facing batters for the first time by holding opponents to a respectable .222 average and allowing only 22 hits in 99 at-bats.

While Green has a larger sample size against Cardinals hitters, he has fared well against them in past matchups. Players like Nolan Arenado (2-8), Paul Goldschmidt (1-9), Brendan Donovan (0-5), Nolan Gorman (1-6) and Willson Contreras (1-3) have struggled to find success against him.

It's worth mentioning that Contreras is currently experiencing a slump, with only two hits in his last 13 at-bats, resulting in a .154 average. Similarly, Gorman has struggled with a mere .118 average in his last 17 at-bats.

This custom NRFI is -171 on Barstool Sportsbook, but DraftKings is providing a significant edge by offering this NRFI at -143.

As always, six outs to glory…
