I will be evaluating my favorite Major League Baseball player props based on what the Action Labs Player Prop tool likes. The tool grades each bet on a scale from 1-10, with 10 being the best possible grade.

Below, I have laid out two prop bets that I am playing, the case for each bet and the best books to find odds on those player props.

MLB Player Props & Picks

Sandy Alcantara — Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+105)

Marlins vs. NationalsNationals (-127)

At just 25 years old, Sandy Alcantara is already in his third full season and fifth season overall. He has been terrific for the Florida Marlins this season, especially as of late. In 16 starts this year, he has amassed a 2.93 ERA.

Alcantara has held opponents to two runs or fewer in four consecutive starts, and in six of his last seven. He has a 1.98 ERA during June.

While Alcantara isn’t really a strikeout specialist, generating one of the best groundball rates in the league, the reason I like his strikeout upside is hit ability to pitch deep into games. Alcantara averages 6.33 innings per start this year. He has pitched eight full innings in four of his last six starts.

If Alcantara continues his success and is able to pitch deep into this game, he should go over this total.

Action Labs Grade: 7/10

Patrick Sandoval — Under 5.5 Strikeouts (+105)

Angels vs. RaysRays (-150)

Los Angeles left-hander Patrick Sandoval will make his seventh start of the season after beginning the year in the bullpen. He has been pretty solid, with a 2-2 record a 3.69 ERA. He has only held the opponent under two runs once, but has also never allowed more than three.

In six starts this year, Sandoval has averaged 5.3 innings per start, never going more than six innings. He has stayed under this strikeout total in four of his six starts.

Sandoval’s last three outings came against Seattle, Arizona and Detroit. I expect him to struggle a bit against Tampa Bay, which had led me to backing him to stay under this strikeout total.
