For my Sunday MLB player props, I'll be looking into outs recorded and strikeouts plays for two starting pitchers.
Let's dive into my MLB player prop picks for Sunday, April 13.
MLB Prop Picks — Sunday, April 13
- Jose Berrios Over 17.5 Outs Recorded (-120, DraftKings)
- Zac Gallen Over 5.5 Strikeouts (- 105, DraftKings)
Blue Jays vs Orioles Props: Berrios Takes on the Challenge
Jose Berrios has been an enigma during his time in Toronto. Over the past few seasons, we’ve seen him be very efficient in producing ground balls, and we’ve also seen him allow plenty of hard contact.
However, in today’s series finale against the Baltimore Orioles, Berrios needs to be sharp, as the Blue Jays will need length from him. While Bowden Francis was sharp yesterday, the bullpen wasn’t, and they burned through multiple arms over the last three innings.
Berrios will be trusted to navigate any trouble, as he’s already shown he can work deep into games, having thrown seven innings against Boston in his last outing.
We should trust Berrios too, as his numbers might not reflect it, but he has been a consistent source of outs. Last season, he completed six innings in 72 percent of his starts.
Brewers vs Diamondbacks Player Props: Gallen vs the Brewers' Swing
Much like Berrios, we’ve seen different versions of Diamondbacks starter Zac Gallen. This has been evident this season, where he threw nearly seven shutout innings against the Yankees, only to follow it up with five earned runs and two strikeouts against the Orioles.
However, we should expect Gallen to positively regress against a swing-happy Milwaukee Brewers lineup. The Brewers have several batters with high strikeout rates against right-handed pitching, so if Gallen is on his game, he has the chance to showcase the upside we saw two starts ago.
The market is behind him, as he exceeded this total in 54 percent of his starts last season, even despite some struggles. In this matchup, we're getting a great price at DraftKings, where sharper books have this closer to -125.
