Sunday is the last day of the regular season, and while it's a bittersweet day, we can use it to our advantage in the player prop market. Let's dive into three of the best angles to take in our top MLB player props for Sunday, Sept. 29.

Doug Ziefel's MLB Player Props for Sunday

MLB player prop bets and MLB prop bets are becoming increasingly popular among bettors. These wagers focus on individual player performances, such as runs, home runs, and strikeouts, adding excitement by allowing bettors to target specific player statistics rather than just game outcomes.

Michael McGreevy will close out the regular season for the Cardinals and his upside gives us a good reason to tune in. McGreevy is St. Louis' 10th-best prospect, and he looked solid in his first two big league starts.

McGreevy is a sinkerballer by trade, but he has shown that his secondary pitches can induce swings and misses. His slider has a 42 percent whiff rate, and his four-seam fastball has a 32 percent whiff rate.

While these numbers are from a small sample size, they show his strikeout upside in the right matchup. McGreevy will get to face the San Francisco Giants, who have been striking out a ton lately.

The Giants have the second-highest strikeout rate against righties over the last month. With this being the last day of the season, we should see McGreevy get a longer leash and go over this total.

Cardinals vs Giants Player Props: Better Days Ahead for Hayden Birdsong

Hayden Birdsong Under 4.5 Hits Allowed (-105)

For our next player prop, we will stay in the same game but turn our attention to Hayden Birdsong, the other man on the mound. Birdsong, like his counterpart, is also a rookie and has pitched much better this season than his 4.66 ERA may entail.

Birdsong has great stuff, and it has played well at the big-league level. His whiff rate is in the 74th percentile, and his strikeout rate is right behind that in the 72nd percentile.

This high amount of whiff has limited the amount of hits Birdsong has given up this season. He has allowed four or fewer hits in 11 of his 15 starts, and with him likely facing a resting Cardinals lineup, he should stay under this again, especially if he only goes five innings.

Athletics vs Mariners Player Props: Logan Gilbert Takes the Mound One Last Time

Lastly, we are going to take advantage of another starter who will take the mound for a team that has nothing to play for. Logan Gilbert will end a tremendous campaign this Sunday.

Gilbert was quietly one of the best starters in baseball this year. He pitched to a 3.33 ERA and had a 0.91 WHIP while throwing over 200 innings. It is that workload and lack of motivation that points to him having an abbreviated start here.

This line opened at 8.5 because he had an excellent strikeout matchup in the Oakland Athletics, but he was quickly bet down as the Mariners' plan for their starters was shown yesterday when Bryan Woo was pulled after just 76 pitches.

Even in a great matchup, Gilbert's window to rack up strikeouts will be shrunk, and he's also gone under this total in 66 percent of his starts this year.
