Tigers vs Mariners Player Props: Back Skubal Against M's
The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner, Tarik Skubal, is set to take the hill for the second time this season.
He gets a far better matchup this afternoon in the Seattle Mariners after he had to grind through his first outing of the season against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
While Skubal didn't pitch poorly in his first outing, we should see him regain his Cy Young form against a Mariners lineup that whiffs a lot, ranking 27th in team strikeout rate against lefties last season.
With this being his second outing of the year, we should see Skubal out there for a long time. He worked up to 80 pitches in his first outing, so expect to see that increase this time around.
With six innings projected today, Skubal has the window and the upside to surpass this plus-money strikeout total.
Diamondbacks vs Yankees Player Props: Time to Fade Rodon
Next, we had to the Bronx, where another lefty is set to get the ball for the second time this season.
Carlos Rodon navigated some early trouble in his first outing against Milwaukee to strike out seven while working into the sixth inning.
However, he may not be able to escape trouble tonight against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks were the best lineup in baseball against lefties last season, ranking first in batting average, OBP and wOBA.
They also didn't swing and miss much, ranking seventh in strikeout rate. Through the early part of this season, they've been seeing the ball well from lefties.
Look for Rodon to get knocked around. He's due for some regression, and his early departure will result in him staying under his strikeout total.
