The final week of the Major League Baseball season has arrived, but much is left to be determined before the 2024 MLB playoffs begin.
Entering Monday, five teams have clinched playoff spots, but only two – the Milwaukee Brewers and Cleveland Guardians – have clinched their division. The Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees are each closing in on divisional crowns, as are the Houston Astros — though they’ve yet to clinch a playoff spot.
The American League and National League wild-card races are also hot. The Arizona Diamondbacks, New York Mets and Atlanta Braves are fighting for the final two spots in the NL while the Kansas City Royals, Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners jostle for the last two in the AL.
The MLB playoff picture is a bit of a mess, which makes this final stretch of the regular season both fun and a little confusing. This story will keep you up to speed on the latest World Series odds, standings, magic numbers, tiebreakers and more.
