Charlie Wright's Mariners vs Giants Best Bet: Back Robbie Ray
By Charlie Wright
These teams played an 11-inning game on Friday and had to use a ton of relievers.
Justin Verlander didn't make it out of the third inning, so the Giants had to get nearly a full game (8 2/3 innings) out of their bullpen. They used seven relievers; Hayden Birdsong was the only bullpen option who didn't pitch, and he threw two innings on Wednesday. He worked as a starter in Spring Training, so it's unclear if he'd be available today on just two days of rest.
Robbie Ray threw 70+ pitches in his final 2 spring appearances. He went 5 1/3 innings on 78 pitches in his first start of the season. Ray was actually perfect through five innings before running into trouble in the sixth. The changeup he learned from Tarik Skubal seems like a real weapon.
Seattle ranked 25th in OPS and 24th in wOBA against lefties in 2024. The Mariners were up to 19th in wRC+, which adjusts for ballpark — T-Mobile Park was the toughest place to hit last season.
However, Oracle Park was also a bottom-five venue for right-handed hitters in 2024, according to Statcast's Park Factors. The Mariners aren't getting much of a park upgrade.
Pick: Robbie Ray Over 15.5 Outs (-125)
Nick Galaida's Mariners vs Giants Best Bet: Good Spot for Bryce Miller
By Nick Galaida
On Friday, Seattle used eight relievers, six of which threw 16+ pitches.
Suffice it to say, they would like to get some length from Bryce Miller tonight.
It's not the most favorable matchup, facing a San Francisco lineup that is adept at working the count, but it should be pitcher-friendly weather, and the Giants should have at least five right-handed hitters in the lineup, both of which are to Miller's benefit.
Pick: Bryce Miller Over 17.5 Outs (-165)
Guardians vs Angels Best Bet: Fade Kochanowicz
By PropModel
The strikeouts prop for Kochanowicz looks like a strong wager based on the current data.
