MLB Player Props For Sunday, July 2

Freddie Freeman Over 1.5 Total Bases -120

Dodgers vs. RoyalsLos Angeles -180

The Los Angeles Dodgers have thoroughly enjoyed their series in Kansas City, as their high-powered offense has put up 13 runs in the first two games. They are in line to do more damage on the scoreboard this afternoon when they face Brady Singer.

Singer has had a rough 2023 campaign as he enters with a 5.88 ERA. He has given up loads of hard contact as he ranks in the first percentile in Hard-hit Rate and the second percentile in Average Exit Velocity.

While there may be many hitters to target today against Singer, I want to back Freddie Freeman. Freeman has been a hit machine this year, as he's hitting .318 on the season. However, he's also slugged much more than last season with 14 homers, which is just seven fewer than he hit all of last season.

Given how well Freeman's been swinging the bat, he's a prime candidate to find a gap or rack up multiple hits against Singer.

Pick: Freddie Freeman Over 1.5 Total Bases

Luis Castillo Under 7.5 Strikeouts -115

Rays vs. MarinersSeattle -124

Luis Castillo was brought over from Cincinnati to be the ace of this Seattle staff, and he has looked like one this season. Castillo enters this outing with a 2.86 ERA with 108 strikeouts in 94 innings pitched.

However, he may be in for his stiffest test yet, as he'll be up against the Tampa Bay Rays this afternoon. The Rays are still the top team in the majors in terms of wRC+, and despite regressing a bit from their torrid start, they are still among the top of the league in homers and batting average.

Tampa has the ability to do damage against Castillo and shorten his outing, which will likely keep him under his strikeout total. However, we've already seen that Castillo's strikeout mark is a tad too high for him.

He has gone under this strikeout total in 10 of his 16 starts this season. In addition to that, this under is one of our top plays according to our Action Labs projections, which have Castillo slated for just 6.7 strikeouts today.

David Peterson Over 4.5 Strikeouts -160

Giants vs. MetsNew York -130
First Pitch7:10 p.m. ET
Best Linebet365

For our final pick of the slate, we head to Queens, where the freshly recalled David Peterson will look to continue his success in his second stint with the Mets this season. Peterson has now been thrust into the Mets rotation due to injury on two occasions, and while command has been an issue, he should have success on Sunday Night Baseball.

Peterson will face the San Francisco Giants tonight, who boast the fourth-highest Strikeout Rate in the big leagues. We saw both Carlos Carrasco and Justin Verlander rack up strikeouts for the Mets in the first two games of this series, and Peterson is in line to follow them.

While the lefty has a great matchup, this total is also too low for Peterson. He has surpassed this total in eight of nine big league starts this season. Barring an early blowup, we should see him make it nine of 10 tonight.
