Shayne Trail breaks down his favorite NRFI/YRFI bets of the day below, but you can follow all of his bets in the Action Network app.
Matchup | Jesus Luzardo vs. Alex Wood |
First Pitch | 4:05 p.m. ET |
We turn our attention to Oracle Park as we seek a potential No Run First Inning (NRFI) win, as the Marlins and Giants close their series in San Francisco.
Left-hander Jesus Luzardo will get the ball for Miami. This season, he's nearly flawless with an 8-1 NRFI record, tallying an overall 23-3 record since 2022. Luzardo's track record against batters the first time through the lineup has been particularly outstanding, with a .179 batting average against.
Luzardo has been solid against key Giants hitters like Brandon Crawford (0-for-2), Michael Conforto (0-for-2) and Thairo Estrada, (0-for-3). All three of those hitters have also historically struggled against left-handed pitchers.
Alex Wood starts for the Giants with an unblemished 4-0 NRFI record in 2023, making him 23-6 since the start of last season. The Marlins, on the other hand, have been among the worst-hitting teams in the first inning. Miami ranks 27th in MLB in first-inning OPS and 28th in runs scored in the opening frame.
Wood has a strong track record against the key players in the Marlins lineup. Luis Arráez, (0-for-1) Jon Berti (2-for-9), Garrett Cooper (0-for-7), Jorge Soler, (1-for-7) and Jean Segura, (2-7) all have been largely held in check by the veteran lefty.
This NRFI proposition is currently priced favorably over at DraftKings, which is offering -130. This provides a compelling opportunity for a first-inning wager.
As always, six outs to glory.
