The New YorkYankees are thriving atop the AL East, while the New York Mets are thriving atop the NL East. What does that mean? Bettors are clamoring for a potential Subway World Series.

We saw the Yankees and the Mets matched up in the 2000 World Series, with the Bronx Bombers coming up with the goods. However, neither team has been in the World Series since 2015.

You can get each of the teams to win the title at +350 and +600, respectively, at BetMGM. However, if you truly back the New York duo to meet in the World Series, you can get that exact matchup to occur at +1000.

If you take that wager, you wouldn't be the only one backing it, either. BetMGM has taken 29.6% of its exact result handle on the Yankees to beat the Mets, which is by far the book's greatest liability.

In terms of highest ticket percentage, the Mets to beat the Yankees actually comes in second, at 3.8%. The most wagered on exact outcome is the Dodgers to beat the Yankees at 4.8%.

The Dodgers getting past the Yankees also has amassed the third-biggest handle, which is understandable considering these two teams are the favorites to win the title outright.

Interestingly, heavy money has come in on the Astros upending the Padres in the World Series, with that matchup holding 7.3% of the handle.

Though there are still two months to play in the season, and all of these teams are shaping up to have a shot at the title.
