On Monday, we will take the NRFI between two National League Central clubs with a pair of aces on the mound.

Brandon Woodruff is 4-1 to the NRFI in 2022, making him 28-9 since the start of last season. Woodruff has only allowed three hits and three walks holding batters to a .177 batting average in the first inning this season. Impressively, he is 22-4 on the road to the NRFI since 2020.

Woodruff has had success against the Reds in the past, as well, going 5-2 to the NRFI since 2020, specifically 2-0 in Cincinnati.

Here is how the Brewers right-hander has fared against some of his potential matchups:

  • Colin Moran: 3-for-12
  • Tommy Pham: 3-for-9
  • Tyler Naquin: 2-for-12
  • TJ Friedl: 0-for-2

The Reds have only won five games this season, with the main reason for that being their underperforming bats. In the last seven days, some of Cincinnati's top hitters are hitting below .200.

  • Kyler Farmer: 0-for-18
  • Tyler Naquin: 2-for-16
  • Colin Moran: 2-for-15

On the other side, we have Reds ace Luis Castillo making his season debut. In his rehab starts in Triple-A, Castillo pitched 10 innings, allowing one run and striking out 16.

Since 2019 Luis holds an impressive 32-10 home NRFI split. He also ended the second half of 2021 on a high note going 16-4 to the NRFI after June 11.

Castillo, like Woodruff, has had NRFI success against their matchup. Since 2019, he's 10-3 to the NRFI against the Brewers.

Castillo has one of the largest edges in the batter-matchups we have seen for a NRFI pitcher thus far:

  • Willy Adames: 2-for-12
  • Luis Urias: 3-for-19
  • Hunter Renfroe: 2-for-13
  • Omar Narvaez: 4-for-21
  • Christian Yelich: 6-for-28

With the wind blowing in at 12 mph on Monday night in Cincinnati, look for a pitchers' duel in this one and take the NRFI between the Brewers and Reds.

As always, six outs to glory…
