The Baltimore Orioles have been on fire over the past 10 days, winning seven of their last eight games to pass the New York Yankees for first place in the American League East. The O's continue their series with the struggling Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim.
Baltimore easily captured the series opener on Monday and will trot out another top prospect debut on Tuesday night with outfielder Heston Kjerstad batting eighth, just ahead of shortstop Jackson Holliday.
Orioles vs Angels odds have the Orioles listed as -150 favorites on the moneyline, with an over/under set at 8.5
Can the Angels end their five-game losing streak tonight, or will the Orioles keep rolling? Find out in my MLB betting preview below, which includes my Orioles vs Angels pick on the over/under.
Since allowing 11 runs in back-to-back games to the Brewers in mid-April, the Orioles have tightened things up by allowing four runs or fewer in six of their past eight games.
After grabbing two of three games in Kansas City over the weekend, the Orioles showed no signs of a letdown in Monday's 4-2 triumph over the Angels. Baltimore picked up only six hits, but James McCann and Colton Cowser each went deep as the O's led 4-0 and cruised to their seventh road win.
Grayson Rodriguez takes the mound for Baltimore tonight, seeking his fourth victory of the season. The O's are 4-0 in Rodriguez's four starts this season, while the right-hander has allowed two earned runs or less in each outing.
Rodriguez struck out nine batters and scattered four hits in six innings in his first start against the Angels at Camden Yards on March 30. Baltimore has given Rodriguez plenty of support by scoring five runs or more in each of his four outings, with three of those games finishing Over the total.
When looking at totals, the Orioles are 6-1 to the over in the second game of a series this season, with combined run totals of 16, 14, 16, and 12 in the last four games in this situation.
The Angels started the season at 6-4 and led the American League West for about two minutes, but Ron Washington's club has quickly reversed course.
Los Angeles lost seven of 10 games on its recent road trip, which closed with a three-game sweep at the hands of Cincinnati.
The Halos returned home on Monday behind its best pitcher, Reid Detmers, who defeated the Orioles in the season's opening series. But the Angels fell short, picking up their fifth-straight loss.
The Angels turn to right-hander Griffin Canning, the worst pitcher in the rotation with an 8.05 ERA, only escaping the fifth inning only once in four starts.
Canning has already been racked once by this Baltimore offense, giving up five runs in five innings of a 13-4 rout on March 30. He is off his best start of the season at Tampa Bay, limiting the Rays to two runs in a 2-1 loss.
The Angels certainly will not have success if star center fielder Mike Trout doesn't hit the ball. In the last five games, Trout is 1-for-18 across his past seven games with only one extra-base hit.

Orioles vs. Angels
Betting Pick & Prediction
Trout has to eventually turn things around, as he hasn't gone hitless in three straight games yet this season.
The Orioles' second game of a series trend is hard to ignore in these high-scoring games, while Canning can't be trusted for an under with his struggles this season.
Let's look at the over for tonight's matchup between the Angels and Orioles.
