Read below for MLB odds and pick for Padres vs Nationals, who play at 6:45 p.m. ET on MLB.TV on Wednesday, July 24.

The Padres have caught fire since getting blanked at Cleveland in the first game following the All-Star break.

San Diego brings a three-game winning streak into Wednesday's contest in Washington following a 4-0 shutout of the Nationals last night.

Washington's three-game hot streak stopped after sweeping Cincinnati. The Nationals look to break through against the Padres for the first time this season.

San Diego Padres

San Diego has won all four matchups with Washington this season, including a three-game sweep at Petco Park last month.

In all three home victories, the over easily cashed each time with 13 combined runs or more in every contest.

However, the Padres' pitching staff has shined lately, allowing one run in the last three wins. They received six scoreless innings from Randy Vasquez in Tuesday's 4-0 triumph.

The top two hitters in the San Diego lineup went deep on Tuesday, as Luis Arraez and Jurickson Profar homered, marking the first series-opening win for the Padres since July 5 against Arizona.

San Diego is looking for four consecutive road wins for the first time this season as right-hander Matt Waldron heads to the mound tonight.

Waldron is winless in four straight outings, even though he pitched well in his last start at Cleveland by allowing one run in six innings. Unfortunately, the Padres' offense provided Waldron no support as the Guardians busted out for six late runs in a 7-0 win last Friday.

The last time the Padres won a start made by Waldron came against — who else — the Nationals on June 24 at Petco Park. Waldron struck out eight and gave up two runs as San Diego walked off past Washington in extra innings, 7-6.

However, San Diego has a 1-4 record in Waldron's past five road appearances, while he is 1-5-1 in his previous seven starts in the first five innings.

Washington Nationals

The Nationals have earned the third-most units from a betting perspective this season, behind the Guardians and Brewers at nearly 10 units.

Washington had won five of six games before Tuesday's shutout loss, as the Nationals scored five runs or more in the five wins against Milwaukee and Cincinnati.

The Nats have significantly improved in the last few seasons, going from 55 wins in 2022 to 71 last season. Washington is on pace for 75 victories this season, sitting 5.5 games out of the final wild-card spot in the National League.

Left-hander Mitchell Parker looks to put his last start at Milwaukee in the rear-view mirror. Parker didn't escape the first inning, allowing five runs on three hits.

Despite the 5-0 hole through one inning, the Nationals somehow dug out of it and rallied for a 6-5 win to prevent Parker from suffering his sixth loss of the season.

Pitching in D.C. has been an advantage for the southpaw, who owns a 2.82 ERA in seven home outings, although Washington is 4-3 in those games.

Parker gave up one run or fewer in the first five innings in his first five home starts but has yielded seven runs in the first five of his past two starts at Nationals Park.

Betting Pick & Prediction

The Nationals' win streak was snapped on Tuesday, but they can bounce back tonight in this good spot.

San Diego enters tonight's action on a 1-8 cold stretch in its last nine road games against left-handed starting pitchers.

Waldron pitched well enough at Cleveland in his last start but hasn't received the necessary run support to be successful.

Let's bet Washington at home to beat San Diego.
