Shayne Trail breaks down his favorite NRFI/YRFI bets of the day below, but you can follow all of his bets in the Action Network app.
Matchup | Z. Wheeler (Phillies) vs. F. Valdez (Astros) |
First Pitch | 8:03 p.m. ET |
The Philadelphia Phillies will send out Zack Wheeler in a must-win Game 6 tonight against the Houston Astros. Wheeler was one of the league's most efficient NRFI pitchers during the regular season, posting a 23-3 record with an 11-3 road and NRFI split.
Wheeler has dominated batters the first time through the order, only allowing a .151 average with two walks. Wheeler's most important matchups will be against leadoff hitter José Altuve, who is 2-for-3, Yordan Álvarez, who is 1-for-2, Alex Bregman, who is 1-for-3, and Jeremy Pena, who is also 1-for-3.
Wheeler had a disappointing performance his last time out against the Astros. In a must-win game, we will look for him to perform at a much higher level.
The Astros will send out Framber Valdez, who was also excellent to the NRFI in the regular season, posting a 25-6, NRFI record with a 10-4 home NRFI split. Like Wheeler, Valdez also performed very well when facing batters the first time through the order, only allowing a .181 average.
His last time out against the Phillies in the postseason, he also achieved the NRFI. His most noteworthy matchups today will be against Alec Bohm, who is 0-for-3, Nick Castellanos, who is 1-for-7, Kyle Schwarber, who is 0-for-9, and Bryce Harper, who is 0-for-3.
FanDuel has this NRFI priced at (-145), which is very respectable given the situation and the two pitchers on the bump.
Pick: NRFI -145 (FanDuel)
