The third and final game of this series begins on Sunday with the AL East's New York Yankees hosting the AL West's Texas Rangers.

These clubs split the first two games of this series, with Texas winning the first matchup 4-2 and New York getting its revenge on Saturday with a 1-0 victory. Will the Yankees defend their home field, or can the Rangers end the series on a high note?

Here's a look at the odds, as well as my Rangers vs. Yankees betting pick and prediction.

Texas Rangers

Right-hander Nathan Eovaldi is slated to take the mound for the Texas Rangers in this matchup, and he should be a great candidate to back. Through 15 starts this season, Eovaldi is 9-3 with a 2.80 ERA and 0.99 WHIP.

His underlying metrics suggest that regression is unlikely, as he ranks in the 62nd percentile or higher in Average Exit Velocity, xERA/xwOBA, xBA and xSLG. Specifically, we are going to back Eovaldi to generate swings and misses.

Entering Sunday, he ranks in the 53rd percentile or higher in K%, Whiff% and Chase Rate. Boasting a five-pitch arsenal, the right-hander possesses a devastating split finger with a 34.6 Whiff% and 23.2 PutAway%.

Eovaldi has recorded at least six strikeouts in three of his past four starts. This trend is likely to continue on Sunday against the New York Yankees.

New York Yankees

It has been a relatively disappointing season thus far for the Yankees, who currently sit in third place in the AL East. The hitting has been very underwhelming, ranking in the bottom half of the league in runs scored per game, hits per game, BA and OPS.

On top of that, New York hovers right around the league average in K%. To make matters worse, there is fear that superstar Aaron Judge may miss the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his right big toe.

Looking at Sunday's projected starting lineup, five of the nine hitters possess a K% north of 21% this season.

Rangers vs. Yankees Betting Pick

These strikeout woes for the Yankees are likely to continue against Eovaldi. As a former pitcher for the Boston Red Sox, the right-hander has seen plenty of the Yankees.

Over his past 10 starts against New York, Eovaldi is 3-2 with a 3.43 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. He has collected at least six strikeouts in seven of those 10 starts, a trend likely to continue against a Judge-less lineup on Sunday.

Pick: Nathan Eovaldi Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-122 | Play to -130)
