The Rays take on the Tigers at Comerica Park on Friday night. Tampa Bay has won four of its last six games, including series wins over the Twins and Red Sox.
Tampa will have Michael Wacha on the mound, while lefthander Matthew Boyd is pitching for Detroit.
Both pitchers have some momentum, winning three of their last five starts. Interestingly enough, the home-road splits would seem to indicate that Detroit will have an advantage this weekend.
Boyd is only 3-4 on the season but he does have impressive 2.64 ERA at home. Michael Wacha's 6.75 road ERA isn't particularly promising. And while he's probably due for some regression with a 4.01 xFIP, he hasn't had a sub-4.0 mark in that category in four years.
The Rays are the superior team on paper and have the record to show it, but the below-average Tigers have actually managed a .500 record at home.
