The weekend is here, and we are once again granted another beautiful slate of afternoon baseball.
However, only one of my best player prop selections will take place in the afternoon as we'll round out the evening in Chavez Ravine. There's more good news, as each of these props will help line your pockets because they're plus-money picks.
So, let's not waste any more time and dive into today's selections.
Our Action Labs Props Tool grades each prop on a scale from 1-10 to help with any player prop decisions bettors may need to make.
MacKenzie Gore Over/Under 5.5 Strikeouts (+120/-155)
San Diego Padres @ Milwaukee Brewers
First Pitch | 4:10 p.m. ET |
Best Line | DraftKings |
MacKenzie Gore's debut was a highly anticipated event, as he was regarded as the best pitching prospect for the last few years.
He has certainly lived up to the hype since being called up. He'll enter this start against Milwaukee Brewers with a 3-1 record, a 1.71 ERA and a 28.3% strikeout rate.
The Brewers may be the best team in the NL Central, but they're very prone to striking out. Milwaukee enters this matchup with the sixth-highest strikeout rate in the majors against lefties.
Gore will attack the Brewers' lineup primarily with his fastball. He's thrown it over 65% of the time, and big leaguers have hit just .208 off of it. The Brewers are not a team that excels at hitting fastballs. Only Christian Yellich and Hunter Renfroe have batting averages over .300 off of that pitch this season.
On top of that, a majority of the Brewers lineup has struck out on fastball quite a bit this season. Only five of the 14 qualified hitters on the Brewers roster have a strikeout rate under 20% against fastballs.
While this outing will be a step up in competition, Gore is in line to overpower the Brew Crew this afternoon.
Pick: Over 5.5 (+120)
Eduardo Escobar Over/Under 0.5 Hits (-150/+115)
New York Mets @ Los Angeles Dodgers
First Pitch | 10:10 p.m. ET |
Best Line | DraftKings |
The Mets have looked overmatched by the back end of the Dodgers' rotation through the first two games of the series. Judging by those results, their outlook against LA's ace, Walker Buehler, is bleak.
While Buehler's expected to put together a solid outing this evening, I've pinpointed one hitter in the Mets' lineup who is dreading his at-bats tonight.
Eduardo Escobar and Buehler have seen a lot of each other during Escobar's time in the NL West with the Diamondbacks.
Over that time, the two squared off on 23 occasions. Buehler has dominated Escobar, as he's surrendered just two hits and struck him out 13 times. Escobar's quality of contact against Buehler has been very poor with an average exit velocity of 88.2, and his xwOBA sits at .067.
I'm banking on Buehler to continue his domination of Escobar tonight.
Pick: Under 0.5 Hits (+115)
