  • Matthew Freedman continues his series featuring at least one of his favorite bets for each day of 2019.
  • On Sunday, he looks at MLB pitcher strikeout props for the 14-game slate.

Each day, I publish 1-2 pieces on props I like. See my master list of 2019 prop bets for more information.

In this piece, I’m looking at pitcher props for Wednesday, April 10, which has provided us with a bountiful 14-game slate. NOTE: I may update this piece throughout the day.

Freedman’s Favorite Pitcher Props for Sunday, April 14

My MLB prop record isn't great, but since I tweaked my research and selection process on Apr. 9, I am 10-4-2 (+4.57). Let's see if I can keep this going.

Please note that in some cases I might be going against what’s recommended in the FantasyLabs Props Tool and the strikeout projections we have in the FantasyLabs MLB Models.

Toronto Blue Jays Pitcher Marcus Stroman vs. Tampa Bay Rays

  • Time: 1:07 p.m. ET
  • Pick: Over 5.0 (-114)

Stroman doesn’t overpower with his career mark of 7.3 strikeouts per nine innings, but he is in good form with his 2.41 ERA and 2.18 FIP to start the season, and he has five-plus strikeouts in each of his three starts. The Rays have the sixth-most strikeouts per game this year with 9.93.

I'd bet over 5.0 to -135.

Pittsburgh Pirates Pitcher Jameson Taillon at Washington Nationals

  • Time: 1:35 p.m. ET
  • Pick: Over 4.5 (-149)

Taillon is solid with his 8.2 strikeouts per nine innings and 3.55 FIP across his career, and last year he had five-plus strikeouts in 22 of 32 games (68.8%). The Nationals have the seventh-most strikeouts per game this year with 9.85.

I'd bet over 4.5 to -185.

Detroit Tigers Pitcher Jordan Zimmerman at Minnesota Twins

  • Time: 2:10 p.m. ET
  • Pick: Over 4.0 (+120)

Zimmerman isn't a K machine: He has just 6.4 strikeouts per nine innings since his age-30 season in 2016. But since last season he's had at least four strikeouts in 20 of 28 games (71.4%).

I'd bet over 4.0 to -110.

Oakland Athletics Pitcher Brett Anderson at Texas Rangers

  • Time: 3:05 p.m. ET
  • Pick: Over 3.5 (-125)

Anderson has just 5.4 strikeouts per nine innings since last year, and he has four-plus strikeouts in only eight of 20 games (40%) over that time — but he's facing the Rangers, who have an MLB-high 10.39 strikeouts per game.

I'd bet over 3.5 to -150.
