The San Francisco Giants (17-10) take on the Texas Rangers (15-11) on Saturday, April 26, at Oracle Park. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET; the game will be broadcast on FOX.
Tyler Mahle and Robbie Ray enter Saturday's Giants-Rangers tilt both with 3-0 records. However, don't be fooled by the records alone — one of these pitchers has been quite fortunate in the early going of the 2025 MLB season.

Rangers vs Giants Preview, Prediction
I like getting Tyler Mahle as an underdog dog. He's off to a tremendous start this season, allowing just two earned runs over five starts.
Mahle's probably not going to lead the league in ERA, but his xERA is an elite 2.80, and he's made some positive changes.
His improved fastball has been the primary driver behind his success. He added an inch of induced vertical break to the pitch, and the results have been excellent.
The four-seamer has held hitters to a .073 batting average, with a healthy 37.6% whiff rate. The pitch is only averaging 91.9 mph, but the shape and location have made it effective.
Mahle has also adjusted his secondaries to work better off the fastball. He's cut down on the horizontal and vertical break on his slider and he's added vertical drop to his splitter.
The combination of pitches has been tough for opponents to square up. Mahle has allowed just a 34.4% hard-hit rate; his xBA is .198.
Robbie Ray somehow has a respectable ERA (4.07) despite giving up five HRs and 18 walks over 24 1/3 innings.
He's ducked in and out of trouble all season, and his ERA estimators (xERA, xFIP, SIERA) are all above 5.00.
Ray has battled control issues the majority of his career, but strikeouts and soft contact typically save him. He's had neither this season.
Ray has a middling 23.4% K% and concerning contact metrics. He ranks in the sixth percentile in average exit velocity, 12th percentile in barrel rate and 16th percentile in hard-hit rate.
Rangers vs Giants Prediction, Betting Analysis
Mahle has been impressive in the early going due to significant changes in his approach. The Rangers offense should get some opportunities against Ray and the Giants, so hopefully they cash in a few times in the first five innings.
