First Pitch | 7:20 p.m. ET |

On Thursday, we travel to New York to take an NRFI between two division rivals in the National Leage East — the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves
Jacob deGrom will be the first pitcher inducted into the NRFI Hall of Fame. Coming into today he is 3-0 to the NRFI, and since the 2019 season, he is 56-8. When facing batters the first time through the order, deGrom has only allowed two hits in 27 at bats, which is good for a .074 average.
DeGroms best matchups today are:
- Dansby Swanson: 5-for-28
- Austin Riley: 3-for-14
- Matt Olson: 0-for-2
On top of the struggles against deGrom, Austin Riley, who is projected to bat third today, is just 3-for-25 in his last 28 at-bats. Despite having powerful bats in the top of the order the Braves are only hitting .193 in the first inning in August.
The Braves will counter with their ace in Max Fried. Coming into today, Fried is 20-2 to the NRFI, with an 11-2 NRFI home split. In 81 first-inning batters faced, Fried has only allowed 12 hits and two walks, which is good for a .152 batting average against in the first inning.
Fried best matchups today will be against:
- Brandon Nimmo: 3-for-18
- Francisco Lindor: 3-for-18
- Darin Ruf: 2-for-11
The Mets' most powerful hitter, Pete Alonso, is struggling at the plate. Alonso is a lousy 3-for-20 in his past week.
The Mets are considered a YRFI team, hitting the NRFI only 64% of the time. That won’t be the case today and their splits support that. On the road, they are hitting the NRFI 76% of the time.
With great success in their matchups, bet on deGrom and Fried to pitch a scoreless first inning today.
As always, six outs to glory…
