Tigers vs. Blue Jays Player Props
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to Hit a Home Run (+425, Caesars)
Bo Bichette to Hit a Home Run (+625, Caesars)
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been getting great contact early on, but the extra-base hits have yet to come. He has 18 hits in 41 at-bats this season, but only one double and two home runs.
Over the last two seasons, 62% of Guerrero's home runs have come at Rogers Centre, and this evening is the Blue Jays' home opener after a lengthy road trip to begin the season.
Guerrero particularly mashes in April. In the previous two seasons, Guerrero has 14 total home runs in the month of April (including the two this season), the most of any Blue Jays hitter.
Bo Bichette leads the Jays in home runs in the early going with three long balls, and he's second on the team with five extra-base hits.
Tigers starter Matt Manning has limited experience facing the Blue Jays, but he gave up extra-base hits to both Guerrero and Bichette when he faced them last season.
Manning's flyball rate (57%) could prove problematic for the Tigers in this game, and the offensive environment combined with his arsenal could lead to a plethora of opportunities for Blue Jays hitters to leave the yard.
The Tigers' bullpen will provide opportunities, too. Detroit's relievers have given up the fifth-most extra-base hits of any bullpen in baseball so far in 2023 (9), and it is 26th in opponents batting average.
This being the Blue Jays' home opener, I project their offense to have a great showing. They've scored at least six runs in home openers in each of the last two seasons.
