The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees played a three-game series over the weekend in what very well might be a World Series preview. In fact, the two are favored to square off in this year’s Fall Classic. The exact matchup is +550 at FanDuel, which is far and away the best odds of any potential showdown. The next closest matchup is the Yankees against the Philadelphia Phillies, which is +1000.
If this weekend was in fact a World Series preview, we’ll be in for a treat. Los Angeles won the first two games of the series – a 2-1 thriller Friday in extra innings and an 11-3 demolition Saturday. New York came back strong Sunday, rallying for a 6-4 win.
We’re not even halfway through the regular season, so oddsmakers aren’t putting much stock in the Dodgers winning this weekend's series. Each team’s odds to win the World Series didn’t move one bit from Friday to Sunday. The Dodgers are still favored at +270 at FanDuel while the Yankees are +410.
Right on those teams’ heels are the Phillies, who actually own the best record in the league one game ahead of the Yankees. Philadelphia is +600 while the injury-ravaged Atlanta Braves are +750 and the Baltimore Orioles +1200.
