Updated Oct. 15: The Dodgers are once again favored after defeating the rival Giants in Game 5 of the NLCS. The Astros check in with the second-best odds and are favored to beat the Red Sox in the ALCS.
Updated Oct. 9: For the first time all season, the Los Angeles Dodgers are not World Series favorites. Following a Game 1 loss to the San Francisco Giants, the Dodgers' odds to defend their crown dropped to +350 at FanDuel.
The new favorites are the Houston Astros, who have a 2-0 series lead over the Chicago White Sox in the ALDS. The Dodgers are now tied with the Giants for second-best odds.
Updated Oct. 7: The Dodgers entered the postseason as favorites, and those odds strengthened following their NL Wild Card Game victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Los Angeles Dodgers had their streak of eight-straight NL West crowns snapped, but just as they've been all season long, they're still favored to win their second-straight World Series title, checking in at +400 according to odds posted on FanDuel shortly after the regular season concluded on Sunday.
The Dodgers won 106 games but were relegated to the NL Wild Card game thanks to the historic run by the San Francisco Giants, who won 107 games and clinched the division title with a win over the Padres on Sunday.
The Dodgers play the Cardinals in the winner-take-all game on Wednesday.
Despite its lofty standing, San Francisco checks in at +550 to claim the title, tied with the team with the best record in the American League, the Tampa Bay Rays, for the third-lowest odds.
The Houston Astros, who are the No. 2 seed in the American League and host the Chicago White Sox in the ALDS starting Tuesday, have the second-lowest odds at +550. The White Sox are +700.
Other division winners, the Brewers and Braves, who meet in the NLDS starting Friday, come in next at +900 and +1200, respectively. Atlanta is tied with the two AL wild-card teams, the Yankees and Red Sox, who meet in the winner-take-all AL Wild Card Game on Tuesday in Boston.
Finally, the Cardinals, who went on a 17-game winning streak in September to run away with the second NL wild-card spot, are +2500. St. Louis's long odds reflect the likelihood that it gets past the behemoth Dodgers on Wednesday. Los Angeles opened at -230 in that game, while the Cardinals are +190.
