The New York Yankees have announced their 26-man roster for their upcoming World Series matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Nestor Cortes will be on the Yankees roster after missing the end of the regular season and two rounds of the MLB playoffs with a flexor strain. Cortes had been weighing whether to play in the World Series with the potential that he could require surgery if he sustained further damage to his elbow. Yankees manager Aaron Boone has appeared to sign off on having the one-tie All-Star on the roster.
Jon Berti was left off the roster to make room for Cortes. The Yankees have just one backup first baseman, Oswaldo Cabrera, behind Anthony Rizzo who is playing with two fractured fingers on his right hand and missed the American League Division Series.
