In a closeout Game 5 that had big swings from both teams, the Denver Nuggets landed the final blow to put the Miami Heat away and win their first NBA championship in franchise history.

The Nuggets entered training camp with +1900 betting odds to win the title, just behind the Los Angeles Lakers (+1800) and just ahead of the Miami Heat (+2000). While the champagne is still flowing after the win, the odds for next season’s NBA champion are already available to bet.

The Nuggets, fresh off their first NBA Finals win, are the favorites to repeat as champions in 2024. They have the two-time league MVP in Nikola Jokic, who added a Bill Russell Finals MVP trophy to his case, and arguably the most dangerous offense in the NBA. Despite their dominant play in the Finals, the Nuggets are only slightly ahead of the next team on the oddsboard.

The Boston Celtics have the second-shortest odds to win the NBA title, ahead of the team that beat them in the Eastern Conference finals and the team that finished ahead of them in the regular season standings.

The team that finished No. 1 in the East, the Milwaukee Bucks, are third on the list, one spot ahead of the Phoenix Suns, who were the favorites in the Western Conference entering the NBA Playoffs.

As for the team that lost the NBA Finals? The Heat are +1800 to win the title, falling two spots below the Dallas Mavericks (+1300), who failed to make the NBA Playoffs this season.
