The Nuggets are massive favorites to repeat as Western Conference favorites despite sputtering down the stretch.

Denver was the odds-on, -320 favorites to finish as the No. 1 seed in the West before a massive tilt against the Timberwolves, which they won. Afterward, odds fell to as low as -700.

But a loss to the Spurs by one point derailed those plans, opening the door for the Thunder to take the No. 1 seed as +1000 underdogs.

Still, the marketplace doesn't quite care about the Nuggets' seeding — which jibes with popular support, too. Denver is still the most popular team to win the West across all sportsbooks, and seeding in the NBA has limited value without a Game 7.

The Thunder and Timberwolves are tied for second-best odds at +600. OKC faces off against the winner of the play-in game between the Lakers and Pelicans on Tuesday night — of which odds are already out. It's effectively a toss-up.

And the Timberwolves will face the Suns in the first round in a series that oddsmakers favor the worse seed despite their foibles this season. While Phoenix hasn't showed any semblance of consistency this season — annihilating great teams, losing to horrible ones.

The Suns, meanwhile, clock in right below (+850) the Mavericks (+800) for supremacy on this leaderboard. These are two top heavy teams with the starpower to get them past the finish line.

These lines figure to shift wildly after the result of the play-in games. A Nuggets vs. Lakers matchup in the first round, for instance, pose more threats than the Pelicans will, according to the markets. Expect the Nuggets' odds to get worse in that event — and to remain unchanged should New Orleans seal their fate as the No. 7 seed.
