Philadelphia 76ers vs Washington Wizards NBA Preview

The Philadelphia 76ers and the Washington Wizards will face off in the nation’s capital on Wednesday night.

Philadelphia enters the matchup with a 23-56 record, the fifth worst in the NBA. No team has been more disappointing this season than the 76ers. Philly came into the year with expectations of competing for an Eastern Conference Championship. The Sixers made a splash in free agency by signing former All-Star Paul George, a move that was supposed to elevate them into true contention.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. George battled injuries throughout the season and delivered one of the worst years of his career. Meanwhile, Sixers superstar Joel Embiid was limited to just 19 games. Now, Philly looks to snap a 12-game losing streak. Tyrese Maxey has led the team with 26.3 points and 6.1 assists per game. However, he is out for the season.

On the other side, Washington sits at 17-62 — the worst record in the Eastern Conference and the second worst in the entire NBA. The silver lining for the Wizards is the likelihood of landing another top-five draft pick. Washington, like the rest of the league, hopes to secure the No. 1 pick and select rising star Cooper Flagg.

The Wizards haven’t made the playoffs since 2021. Jordan Poole leads the team with 20.5 points and 4.5 assists per game. Former second-overall pick Alex Sarr is averaging 13.1 points and 6.6 rebounds, while Malcolm Brogdon has added 12.7 points and 4.1 assists.
