In the last year of his contract and with the team looking to focus on younger talent, the Cleveland Cavaliers will not play Andre Drummond until they trade him, the team has said.
Drummond is one of two players currently sitting while his team tries to move him, joining Pistons forward Blake Griffin. Odds favor the Pistons sending Griffin to the Thunder, but Drummond and the Cavs are in a completely different situation.
Because Drummond's deal is expiring, he becomes more attractive to contenders looking for an impact player. Griffin is effectively a salary dump.
As a result, the Toronto Raptors top the odds board to acquire the double-double machine in Drummond. Toronto is currently a disappointing 13-15 and in seventh place in the Eastern Conference. The Raptors have been starting Aron Baynes at center, and he's averaging just over five points and five rebounds per game.
Drummond is averaging 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game.
Behind Toronto is Boston and Dallas. The Celtics and Mavs are also off to slow starts and in need of upgrades. The Celtics have a combination of Daniel Theis and Tristan Thompson at center. Kristaps Porzingis is listed as the starting center for Dallas, but could potentially slide to power forward to make room for Drummond.
The Nets seem like an obvious suitor for Drummond, especially after trading away Jarrett Allen in the James Harden deal. Coincidentally, Allen is the player the Cavs want to make room for and that's why Drummond is on the sideline.
The Action Network's Matt Moore dove into the idea of Drummond to the Nets, as well as his potential fit with the Raptors or Celtics here.
It's important to note the house rules and stipulations for prop bets before making them. For example, at PointsBet, this is the note included on the bet:
"Player must be traded by the March 25th NBA Trade deadline for bet to win. If no trade occurs before then, bets will be voided."
It's possible no trade happens and Drummond is bought out. In that case, it seems bets would be voided.
