In a pair of Western Conference Game 3s on Thursday night, bettors benefited from Fanatics’ Fair Play.

Ja Morant and Russell Westbrook both left their respective games with injuries, which meant their props and parlay legs were voided at Fanatics.

During the regular season, the policy came into effect whenever a player was injured during the first quarter. In the NBA playoffs, that has been extended to the first half.

Fanatics has a team that monitors these injuries, and a bet including an injured player will be voided within 30 minutes of the player officially being ruled out.

One customer in particular greatly benefited from the policy Thursday. The bettor had an eight-leg, $2,500 parlay:

  • Mariners Under 4.5 runs, vs. Red Sox
  • Royals Over 3.5 runs vs. Rockies, Game 1
  • Royals Over 3.5 runs vs. Rockies, Game 2
  • Grizzlies' Ja Morant 21+ points vs. Thunder
  • Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns 20+ points vs. Pistons
  • Knicks' Mikal Bridges 14+ points vs. Pistons
  • Clippers' James Harden 20+ points vs. Nuggets
  • Clippers' Kawhi Leonard 20+ points vs. Nuggets

Every leg hit except for Morant scoring 20 or more points. He played 16 minutes and had 15 points before exiting in the second quarter with a hip injury.

So, Fanatics voided the Morant leg, making it a seven-leg parlay with +1235 odds and the bettor profited $30,875.

"That's just an example of one of the parlays that was saved as part of this extension of our Fair Play policy to the first half for the NBA playoffs," Fanatics vice president of industry communications Kevin Hennessy said. "Morant unfortunately was injured in the second quarter. So our extension allowed this parlay to stay alive.

"Harden and Leonard still had to do their part for the customer to win. I am sure that customer was very happy this morning because of Fanatics' Fair Play policy."

On Wednesday, Jimmy Butler exited in the first quarter of the Warriors' loss to the Rockets. So, Butler legs were voided on parlays, which helped a couple of smaller bettors win big: a 10-leg, $10 parlay cashed out for $2,056, and a 13-leg, $42 parlay turned into $5,012.

"Fair Play has become one of the most popular reasons for customers to join and play with us," Hennessy said.

The voiding does not apply to unders, so bettors who had under wagers on Morant, Westbrook and Butler were winners.
