Blake Griffin's days with the Detroit Pistons appear to be over as the team has said it will not play him as trade and buyout options are discussed.
Finding a partner on a deal for an 32-year-old forward owed more than $38 million next season won't be easy, especially with Griffin averaging a career-low 12.3 points per game.
The betting market points to the Oklahoma City Thunder as the favorite to land Griffin at +300, just ahead of the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics.
If Oklahoma City acquires him, it's fair to assume it's via trade. The Thunder have had no issue taking on large contracts paired with future assets. Throw in Griffin's connection to Oklahoma — he played his freshman year with the Sooners — and there could be a fit if Detroit attaches a draft pick.
The Heat and Celtics figure to be buyout options if Griffin and the Pistons reach an agreement to part ways. Miami sits at 11-17, outside of the playoff picture. Boston is 14-14 and fifth in the Eastern Conference.
The Charlotte Hornets and Los Angeles Lakers are both +600 to land Griffin. Charlotte has the NBA's second-most cap space, behind only the New York Knicks. The Lakers will always be in the mix for veterans on the buyout market.
However, it's important to note the house rules for these wagers. On PointsBet, the rule appears to be a trade only.
From the site: "Player must be traded by the March 25th NBA Trade deadline for bet to win. If no trade occurs before then, bets will be voided."
Always make sure you know the stipulations before placing your wager.
