After Game 1: The Atlanta Hawks pulled off yet another upset in a series opener. The Hawks won on the road in Milwaukee to take a 1-0 series lead and their odds to win the series went from +375 ahead of Game 1 to +175 before Game 2. The Bucks, who were -485 are still significant favorites to win the series at -215 (68.25% implied odds).
The Eastern Conference finals are set, but oddsmakers see this series as a very lopsided matchup. Both teams went seven games in the Conference semifinals and they each knocked off a team that was arguably better in the matchup. Still, the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks sit just four wins away from the NBA Finals.
The Hawks' win in Round 2 didn't come without its bumps and bruises. Trae Young fought through a shoulder injury all series and Bogdan Bogdanovic was limited in Games 5, 6 and 7 due to knee swelling. His status for Game 1 is up in the air. The Hawks could see Cam Reddish return after he missed most of the season with an Achilles injury, but still have an uphill battle in the Conference finals.
The Bucks were fortunate to come out of their series without any injury issues, though fatigue will certainly be a factor for them. According to oddsmakers, the Bucks are expected to win this series in five games and their implied odds to win the series are 82.91%. The Bucks are also the title favorites entering the Conference finals ahead of the Phoenix Suns who are two wins away from the NBA Finals.
