Bulls vs. Knicks Preview
The Knicks picked up their first group victory in this year's NBA Cup last night, 111-99 over the 76ers. The win did come with a cost as star point guard Jalen Brunson turned his ankle at the start of the second half. Brunson did return to the game, but his status is unclear for tonight's game on the second night of a back-to-back.
Brunson finished with just 18 points last night, but a few of his teammates stepped up, such as Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart. Towns finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds and he has another great matchup against a Bulls team that is 28th in scoring defense. Towns is averaging 30 points per game in his last two meetings against the Bulls and Chicago is allowing nearly 50 points per game to centers and power forwards.
Hart filled up with the stat sheet with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists against Philadelphia. He may be in line to fill up the stat sheet again tonight. The Bulls are 28th in assists allowed overall. They are also 21st and 23rd, respectively, in rebounds allowed to shooting guards and small forwards, as well as 24th in assists allowed to small forwards.
Having played on Monday night, the Bulls will have a rest advantage in tonight's game. However, they are still 8.5-point underdogs and if they are going to hang around or spring an upset, they will likely need a big game from Zach LaVine, who is probable for tonight's game. LaVine comes into tonight's game averaging 22.5 points per game while shooting 52% from the field and 41% from deep.
LaVine has scored at least 18 points in seven of eight games this season. He has also enjoyed a lot of success against the Knicks of late as he has scored 18 points in six of his last seven games against them. The Knicks are 26th in 3-pointers allowed per game and that will open up opportunities to a shooter of LaVine's caliber.
Bulls vs. Knicks Prediction
While I expect to Brunson to play tonight, Hart will be active regardless. He has six assists in each of his last five games and seven assists in four of his last five games. He also has had eight rebounds or more in eight of his last nine games. In that span, he is averaging more than 15 rebound chances per game.
As a result, Hart has had 16 rebounds + assists in each of his last four games and five of his last seven games. I expect that trend to continue tonight and I will also be including Hart in my same-game parlay featuring LaVine, Towns, and a Knicks victory.
Best Bet: Josh Hart Over 15.5 Rebounds + Assists (-142 at DraftKings)
Same Game Parlay: Josh Hart Over 15.5 Rebounds + Assists | Karl-Anthony Towns 20 Points | Zach LaVine 18+ Points | Knicks Moneyline (+310 at DraftKings)
