Sports writers at Action Network tend to have a talent for winning bets. Well, let’s take some of their +EV bets and put them in a same-game parlay.

Each day, we have best bets from our NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB analysts who cover sides, totals and niche markets like player prop bets. As recreational bettors, we all like to occasionally indulge in our degenerate side. So, when the time comes, let’s do it responsibly and create a fun, low-stakes same-game parlay.

For today’s Celtics vs Mavericks same-game parlay, we’ll use Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics on June 6, 2024:

The Celtics enter Game 1 as 6.5-point favorites against the Mavericks and will likely be favored in any game at TD Garden.

Andrew O’Connor-Watts thinks we need to back the Celtics to cover in Game 1:

“There are a few historical reasons to like this spot for Boston, in addition to the pure 2024 basketball reasons. Home teams in Game 1 of the NBA Finals are 15-3 ATS, and favorites are 16-3 (the missing game is from the bubble season on a neutral court), going back to 2005, per Bet Labs.”

“When the spread is -5.5 or greater, the favorite is 10-1 ATS in Game 1.”

“The Celtics have been the best team in the league all season, and while I think this could be a competitive series, we won’t see that until at least Game 2. Expect Boston to dominate Game 1 and cover as so many favorites have in the past.”

Derrick White

While most of the Celtics' offense and shots will go to Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, Derrick White has made an impact with his shooting.

Alex Hinton thinks that trend continues in Game 1 and is backing White to make at least three 3-pointers tonight:

“White is averaging 17.8 points per game this postseason and is shooting 40.7% from deep on 8.4 attempts per game. He's cleared this line in 8-of-14 postseason games, including six of his last 10.

“Additionally, he's made four 3s in six games during this postseason and five in three of them.”

“White is also no stranger to knocking down big shots as he sent Boston to the Finals with a 3 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals. White will be in a good position to clear this line again if he attempts eight or nine triples.”

Jrue Holiday

Over 4.5 Assists

The Celtics' addition of Jrue Holiday in the offseason continues to pay off as we enter the NBA Finals.

His impact on both sides of the floor is why Joe Dellera is betting on his assists prop in Game 1:

“In Game 1, we should expect Holiday to continue being an anchor on both sides of the floor for the Celtics. Additionally, 33 minutes is the fewest he's played in any game this postseason. And when he's played 33 minutes this season, he's averaged five assists per game and exceeded this line in 58% of games.”

“In two regular season matchups against Dallas, Holiday logged six and seven dimes. In the postseason, he's averaged 4.6 assists on 7.9 potentials per game.”
