The Boston Celtics (34-15) and Philadelphia 76ers (19-28) will meet in the NBA tonight. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. ET at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The game will broadcast live on ESPN.
The Celtics are 11-point favorites over the Sixers on the spread (Celtics -11), with the over/under set at 223 total points. Boston is a -550 favorite to win outright, while Philly is +410 to pull off the upset.
Let's get into my Celtics vs. 76ers predictions and NBA picks for Sunday, February 2.
Celtics vs. 76ers Picks, Prediction
Spread
While the Boston Celtics have the third-best record (34-15) in the league, they also have the fourth-worst mark against the spread (19-29-1). Thus, laying double-digits on the road is risky against a 76ers team fighting to earn a spot in the postseason.
Moneyline
While I would expect the Celtics to win, I see no value in backing them on the moneyline with odds as high as -600.
Over/Under
Given the market adjustment from 221.5 to 222.5, the over does offer some value, considering that 222 is still available at Caesars and Bet365.
My Pick: 76ers +11

Celtics vs. 76ers Preview
The Boston Celtics are more than capable of turning games into shootouts thanks to their 3-point prowess. In their only meeting against Philadelphia on Christmas Day, the two teams combined for 37 3-pointers while shooting at least 40% from beyond the arc.
Although you might expect the 76ers to struggle for points without key players Joel Embiid, Paul George, and rookie guard Jared McCain, they've averaged 122 points over their last five games with four victories and a 5-0 run against the spread (ATS).
It's not as if Philadelphia faced a bunch of bottom-feeders during that span. Its opponents included the Eastern Conference-leading Cavaliers, the Nuggets and the Lakers. Denver and Los Angeles are fourth and fifth, respectively, in a competitive Western Conference.
The 76ers did suffer a loss to the Nuggets their last time out despite racking up 134 points.
Philadelphia's Tyrese Maxey is almost single-handedly keeping the team's playoff hopes adrift as he has been the most available of the 76ers superstars. The NBA's reigning Most Improved Player has featured in 40 games compared to 30 for George and just 13 for Embiid.
Yet, despite increasing his scoring from 25.9 points per game in the last campaign to a team-best 27.5 this season, Maxey was somehow left off the 2025 All-Star team.
The All-Star snub could serve as extra motivation against a Celtics team that hasn't been exactly convincing when required to win by double digits.
While our Action Labs database shows that market moves on double-digit favorites have been profitable this season (38-29 ATS, 56.7%), if we adjust our parameters only to include the Celtics, the cover rate drops to 38.5% (5-8).
Moreover, Boston is just 1-5 ATS over its last six games in this spot.
The Celtics are known to play with their food against lesser competition, and it wouldn't surprise me if the 76ers did enough to stay in this game.
Celtics vs. 76ers Prediction
Philadelphia's Kelly Oubre Jr. could play a key role in keeping this game competitive. The 10-year veteran is coming off a 27-point effort against the Nuggets. But his rebounding piques my interest, as bet365 lists his prop at 6.5 (-135).
Oubre has exceeded 6.5 rebounds in four of his previous five home games and two of his last three meetings against Boston. It's worth noting that the Celtics rank 20th in opponent rebounds, allowing 44.6 per game.
Should this matchup resemble a 3-point shootout, Oubre should have ample opportunities to attack the glass. Combining the over in Oubre's prop with the 76ers covering the spread gives a decent return on same-game parlay odds at +210.
Best Bet: Sixers +11 (-110)
Same Game Parlay Picks
